Professional background and credentials

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (L.M.F.T.) licensed in California with over two decades of clinical experience. My training includes certifications and continuing education in couples therapy models such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), trauma-informed care, grief counseling, and integrative individual therapy modalities.

Clinical philosophy and approach

Core Principles

Collaboration

Therapy is a partnership. I involve clients in goal setting and decision-making.

Emotional and physical safety are prerequisites for healing, especially in trauma and grief work.

Practical skill-building

Insight plus practice yields change. Clients learn skills to communicate, manage anxiety, and regulate emotions.

Cultural humility

I honor each client’s identity, values, and background and tailor interventions accordingly.

I became a therapist because I am passionate about helping people restore connection and find renewed purpose after difficult experiences. Over the years I’ve seen how relational wounds and unprocessed loss can silently erode health and joy.
Therapy offers a pathway to repair relationships, integrate painful experiences, and reclaim a sense of agency. My work is grounded in the belief that with the right support, people can transform suffering into growth.

Why I became a therapist

Clinical approach in practice

1

Assessment and individualized planning

Every client’s journey begins with a thorough assessment. I listen carefully to each person’s story, identify relational and emotional patterns, and craft a treatment plan with clear goals and timelines.

2

Integration of modalities

I integrate cognitive-behavioral techniques for symptom management, emotion-focused strategies to improve attachment and connection, trauma-focused interventions to restore safety and integration, and narrative elements to help clients make meaning of loss.

3

Skill-building and homework

To consolidate gains, clients receive specific practice tasks between sessions: communication exercises, mindfulness practices, journaling prompts, and behavioral experiments.

4

Outcome-focused

I prioritize measurable progress. Periodic reviews help us track outcomes, adjust strategies, and ensure therapy remains aligned with your goals.

Client populations and cultural competence

I work with adult individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. My practice is committed to cultural competence and inclusivity. I serve clients from diverse racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic backgrounds and emphasize respect for each person’s identity, values, and lived experience.

As a licensed therapist, I adhere to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations and professional ethical standards. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of safe therapy: what you share is protected, with a few legally defined exceptions (imminent risk of harm to self or others, suspected child or elder abuse, or court-ordered disclosure). I will discuss confidentiality and informed consent at intake.

Community involvement and continuing education

I remain active in the community and committed to ongoing professional development. Continued training in trauma therapy, grief work, and couples modalities ensures that my practice reflects current best practices and advances in mental health care. My long-standing presence in Redondo Beach since 1996 reflects a deep commitment to this community.

Clients often describe my style as warm, direct, and practical. People come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, defensive, or disconnected—and leave with improved communication, reduced anxiety, clearer boundaries, and renewed connection.
Outcomes vary by needs and history, but many clients report meaningful improvements within months: better conflict resolution, stronger emotional regulation, and healthier patterns in relationships.
